Synopsis:After a long courtship the unemployed Purushan marries the young and charming, Devi. They have a six-year-old daughter, and financial pressures rise when the household is entirely dependent on Devi’s schoolteacher salary. Eventually Purushan finds a well paying job in Dubai. The distance rekindles the love between the couple and reinstates his worth within the family and the village. However, greed takes over the good times, and in an attempt to claim the lofty insurance amount, colluding with his father-in-law and Devi’s uncle, Purushan tries to fake his own death. In a dark turn of events, unable to find a corpse, they murder a man and burn Purushan’s car with the body inside. The conspirators are however found out, and Purushan goes into exile to escape the murder charges on him. Many years later, Purushan reappears to Devi. He has put on weight, altered his looks through plastic surgery, and is quite unrecognizable.
