Synopsis:The film is based on the life of late Padmashree Pratima Barua Pandey. The film shows how shunning royal comforts and an early marriage, Pratima mingles with exponents of Goalparia folk songs to master the musical art form. Subsequently she makes soulful renderings of the same and performs at various platforms to ensure that folk music flourishes and is more widely heard and appreciated.
About Director: Bobby Sarma Bruah is an Indian Film maker, Producer, and Screenwriter whose films on socio cultural issues in Assam and the North- East India has been highly appreciated. Her debut feature film Adomya won Best Film (Spiritual category) at the 13th Dhaka International Film festival. Her second venture, Sonar Baran Pakhi, has won the Best Feature Film award at the 15th Indian film festival of Los Angeles and the Best Audience Choice Award at the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival. Currently she is pursuing a doctoral research on the influences of folk culture in Assamese cinema.
