Ashok Purang

Ashok Purang, the festival’s director is a seasoned theatre actor who has been passionately contributing to the Indian theatre scene since the 1980s. He has learnt the basics of theatre performance from the celebrated Barry John and been a part of the Theatre Action Group. Purang is the founder-director of the theatre groups- ‘Pierrot’s Troupe’ and ‘Showbiz Action Players’. Prominent plays directed by him are, ‘Letter To A Child Never Born’ (adaptation of Oriana Fallaci’s work), ‘Tum Ko Chahoon, Ki Na Aao’, ‘Einstein’, ‘Mirror Mirror On The Wall’, ‘Bade Bhai Saheb’, ‘A Christmas Carol’ (adaptation of novel by Charles Dickens), and more recently 'Tale of the Taj'. His upcoming projects include three feature films for children. He has been a committee member for the Ladakh International Film Festival, the festival director of the well received New Mumbai International Film Festival, and the creative producer of the award winning film Filmistaan.
